BLAINE’S BIO
Promoting good stewardship and fiduciary best practices has become my life’s work as a professional and the focus of my philanthropic interests. Stewardship is an ethic that is committed to the responsible management of entrusted resources. The fiduciary standard provides principles and practices of good stewardship – tools of the present to assure that the future has received justice from our actions.
Fiduciary Insights allows me to provide fiduciary subject matter expertise to a select group of clients and to actively support good stewardship practices as a personal philanthropic focus. I provide consulting services and connect people to organizations and individuals I trust.
Investment Fiduciary Experience and Recognition
For over 35 years I worked as a steward of financial assets overseen by governments, companies, and investment advisors. I started my career as a Presidential Management Intern in the U.S. Treasury, served as Budget Officer for Prince William County Virginia, was Chief Investment Officer for Allegiance Financial Advisors, and managed investment products and services as an executive for PNC Advisors.
Since 2005 I have been an executive at Fi360, first as Chief Knowledge Officer, then CEO, and finally Executive Chairman of Fi360 and CEFEX. I formed Fiduciary Insights in 2019 following the acquisition of Fi360 by Broadridge Financial Solutions and now provide fiduciary subject matter expertise as a consultant to Fi360/Broadridge.
Throughout my career at Fi360, I have provided thought leadership through my writing and public speaking. For over 10 years, I authored the Fiduciary Corner column for InvestmentNews. I have been named to Investment Advisor magazine’s IA25 list of the most influential people in the investment advisory community and to the RIABiz list of the ten most influential people in the 401(k) industry.
Volunteer Work and Philanthropic Emphasis
I served as a Director of the CFP Board of Standards from 2013 through 2016 and was the Chair of CFP Board in 2017. From 2017 – 2019, I chaired CFP Board’s Standards Resources Commission that is tasked with providing guidance on the Board’s Code and Standards to CFP ® professionals. I also support the work of CFP Board’s Center for Financial Planning.
Consistent with my love of nature and being an avid outdoorsman, I serve on the Executive Committee of the Center for Private Forests at Penn State University. The Center promotes sound stewardship practices by forest landowners. I also support the work of the Foundation for Sustainable Forests and several nature conservancies and personally apply sustainable forestry practices on forestland in northwestern Pennsylvania.
